There is a community service book behind the bar at the post for all members to record their community service activities in. If you visit a hospital, go to a nursing home, help at the church, provide transportation for vets, work with scouts, ROTC, little league teams, or any other activity relating to support of the community, we need to know about it so it can be reported to state. Ask Cindy Levlon, our bar manager for the book and write it down. If you can’t get by the post to do that, call Red Towers @ 259-0906 and report it to him. You can also leave it on Red’s answering machine if he’s not available. |

Veteran Tutors: Disabled Veterans Helping Teachers and StudentsVeteranTutors is a nonprofit organization set up to help ease the return of disabled veterans to civilian life. Half of the military personnel who are discharged with disability never obtain civilian employment. With the flood of young veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with grievous injuries, a group of older veterans began VeteranTutors as a means to sponsor these young veterans and to help train them for civilian careers. |

Therapeutic riding begins with gentle exercises performed on horseback. These exercises include such things as leaning forward to pet the horse's neck, leaning backwards to pat his rump, twisting left and right in the saddle. Each rider is assisted by "walkers" who make sure that he remains secure in the saddle while performing the exercises. The rhythmic movement of the horses walk can stimulate nerves and the exercises increase mobility. |
